The Clinical Efficacy Of Manual Therapy Patellae

Chondromalacia Patellae(CP) is a commonly seen disease in Chinese Orthopaedics, and is one of the main causes of Patellae pains. It has many pathogenesis, pathology and treatment methods. The study includes three parts: the research advance in modern medicine concerning Chondromalacia patellae, the research advances in Chinese medicine concerning Chondromalacia patellae and the clinical therapeutic manipulation of Chondromalacia patellae. Through reviewing the document, the study discusses it through pathogenesis, pathology, diagnosis and treatment in modern medicine in the first part. In the second part, it displays etiological factors, pathology and the therapy for Chondromalacia patellae that Chinese medicine has developed in the past 10years. From above,it gives us an honest opinion of Chondromalacia patellae and provides necessary data for our clinical treatment. Clinical research: Objective: To observe the clinical effect of manipulation (the empirical method ShuJinYanMoDianXuefa) to deal with chondromalacia patellae and probe its mechanism. Methods: 40 cases of chondromalacia patellae were treated and observed in out-patient clinic of Orthopaedics of DongZhiMen hospital from March 2004 to February 2005 .They were randomly divided into two groups: observation group was taken by ShuJinYanMoDianXue manipulation that often used by the tutor in the clinic and compared with the control group treat with Glucosamine indometacin by the assessment of syndrome, each course two weeks in length . Results: The results showed a total effective rate of 85% on the syndrome in the observation group in comparison with that of 65 % in the control group, P<0.05. When the results between the two groups are compared, there existed significant difference. Conclusion:Through the analysis of the results, we probed the cause of chondromalacia patellae, its pathology, the mechanism of ShuJinYanMoDianXue manipulation. In conclusion, we suggest that the mechanism of chondromalacia patellae is as follows:The deficiency of Liver and Kidney is the root cause, followed by Qi stagnation and Blood stasis . In dealing with chondromalacia patellae, ShuJinYanMoDianXue manipulation is highly effective, safe and free of side effect.
