Objective: To advance the new opinions about the disease mechanism of the chondromalacia patellae (CP). That's to say, the CP has a direct bearing on the pathological axis (lumbar vertebra-obturator nerve-adductor muscle of vastus medialis). In the meantime, to come up with the clinical staging standard, of the CP and then to probe into the new mothod– technique tridiagnosis to treat the CP. Methods: The clinical materals about 66 affected knees from 52 cases, in which the patients suffer the CP, are divided into two groups by random access: Technique Group I and Technique Group II. We treat the Group I by tridiagnosis. The key content is to pay attention to the treatment to the pathological axis (lumbar vertebra-obturator nerve-adductor muscle of vastus medialis). On the contrary, the patients in Group II are under treatment by general technique. It means that we treat the periphery of knee joint emphatically. On condition that the patients in these two groups have no difference in sex, age, course of disease, stage, symptom, sign, check-up and course of treatment, we compare their statistics.Results:1. Before the treatment, the lumbago patients are 51.92%, those who have abnormal phenomena in lumbar verteba 86.54%, those who have the tenderness in the pelvis with obturator nerve above 90%, and those whose adductor muscles of vastus medialis exist nervous 69.7% in sum.2. In the terms of the patients'cure rate and the total efficiency in early and middle stages,Technique Group I is superior to Technical Group II obviously (p<0.01).3. In the axis films of the CP X-ray, congruence angles (CA), patellar tilt angle (PTA) and lateral patellar displacement rate (LPDR) have been improved. It is evident that Technique Group I is also superior toTechnique Group II (p<0.05).
