DICOM is a international communication standard which conformed by manufacturers of medical apparatus. The communications of medical image conformances the standard, too. To solve the problem caused by the apparatus of different manufacturers when they are communicating each other, the foreign manufacturers provide their medical apparatus which conformance DICOM standard with license. That is to say, DICOM makes the communications of image and others digital information between different medical imaging apparatus has a unified standard. On the other hand, DICOM is the standard conformed by PACS. With more and more user of PACS, the DICOM Gate is look as a important properties of PACS when user select it.There are two major important functions in DICOM Gate: DICOM C-STORE and DICOM PRINT. DICOM C-STORE send DICOM image data to pointed remote apparatus or receive the data from local apparatus. DICOM PRINT send data to film printer and make it print out film.This article discusses how to realize the DICOM functions described forward, it's major content includes:(1) .Offer two way to understand DIOCM. First is definition of information structure. It include information object definition and content, format, encoding of medical image. All these are the primary content of image communication and evidence of clinic diagnosis. Second is Criterion for communication. It include two ways depended on network communication and removable media. The former is a new application-layer protocol -DICOM Upper Layer based on TCP/IP , including format of transformed information,message state transfer, negotiation of association. The latter is storage service class including method of file operation, file format and media specification. This article describes a full structure of DICOM. .On the base of sufficiently understand DICOM, designed all types of PDU ( Protocol Data Unit) and realized DICOM communicating model based(2) on TCP/IP protocols.(3) .On the base of DICOM communicating model, realized the class of DICOM C-STORE. This class can send data according three basic transfer syntax: Implicit Little Endian, Explicit Little Endian, Explicit Big Endian. On the other hand, it can receive data according any transfer syntax.(4) . On the base of DICOM communicating model, realized the Basic Grayscale Print Management Meta SOP Class. This class can send data according three basic transfer syntax,can print out film in Chinese word, can automatically match film size, etc.
