Allergic rhinitis is an allergosis which happens in the nasal mucosao Its main character is the sudden and repeatly outbreak of the nasal itch, paroxysmal sternutation, plenty of nasal watery mucus and snuffle. It belongs to the category of the T. C. M. For the recent years, the incidence of the disease has a increased tendency, that influenced people' life more severely. According to T. C. M, the happen of the disease is caused by endopathic and exopathic factors, and the deficiency of the spleen is one of the most important reason. It is demonstrated by experimental studies that "spleen-qi" includes immune function of the human body, the deficiency of the spleen has close relation with the reduction of immune function.Chinese traditional medicine , which strengthen the spleen and supplement qi, can increase immune function of the human body. To study the relationship of the deficiency of the spleen-qi and AR, we try to discuss from the clinical and experimental studies.Clinical studies:94 patinents who fitted diagnostic and indusive of AR were differentially diagnosed by questionnaire.It includs four types of syndrome:20 cases belong to deficiency of lung-eneryg(21. 3%) ;37 cases belong to deficiency of spleen-energy (39. 3%) ;22 cases belong to deficiency of kidney-yang(23.4%);15 cases belong to latent heat of lung(16. 0%). Comparisons, that including the ordinary status, the nosal symptoms, the laboratory findings and the skin test findings, were drawn among the four types. Then we drew a conclusion:the conchas of the deficiency of the spleen-qi is the swellest among all the types. 39. 3% of the AR patients belong to the type of the deficiency of the spleen-qi. So we can see that most patients were taken bad because of the deficiency of the spleen-qi.Experimental studies:fifty-four healthy Guinea pigs were divided into four groups at random: four teen pigs in group A, B, C respectively, twelve in group D. In group A, 0V were injected into the abdomen cavity and dripped into the nasal cavity to set up AR model;In group B,0V were used as A, at the same time, liquid rhubarb were drenched daily; Model C was set up as B, on the fourth day after 0V were dripped into the nasal cavity , buzhongyiqi tang replaced liquid rhubarb as therapeutic medicine. Model D was set up as A, but N. S were used instead of 0V. Guinea pigs were firstly used to set up the compound model of AR and deficiency of the spleen by rhubarb' purgation. The model was proved to be successful. Guinea pigs with deficiency of the spleen was easier to be made anaphylactic. The pigs' symptoms in group B were more representative than those in group A .Buzhong yiqi tang can renew the inferior aspecfic iromunologic function and ameliorate the power to produce antibody. The effect of buzhong yiqi tang to cure AR also proved that the model was set up successfully.In conclusion, the deficiency of the spleen-qi has close relation to AR, the function of the spleen to transport and transform retention of water has important meaning in AR. When we make a diagnosis and give treatment to AR patients, we should combine the part with the entire symptoms.
