Acupuncture Combined With The Therapeutic Effect Of Cytokines In Ischemic Stroke Patients With Hemiplegia

Sixty eight cases of cerebral infarction patients were randomly assigned to three groups, the efficacy of Chinese medicine combined with acupuncture therapy, acupuncture therapy and Chinese medicine therapy were examined after treatment for three months. The results showed that the clinical efficay rate of Chinese medicine combined with acupuncture therapy, acupuncture therapy and Chinese medicine therapy were 96%, 80%and 74% seperately. It suggested Chinese medicine combined with acupuncture is superior to acupuncture therapy and Chinese medicine therapy in treating paralysis of cerebral infarction patients. For further exploring the therapeutical mechanisms of Chinese medicine combined with acupuncture therapy, the levels of plasama TNF IL-1 and IL-6 were determined before and after treatment, seperately, twenty healthy people were selected for normal control. The results showed that the levels of plasama TNF IL-1 and IL-6 increased significantly. Compared with that of normal control, the level s of plasama TNF IL-1 and IL-6 were decreased remarkably after treatment with Chinese medicine combined with acupuncture therapy. The results suggested that TNF IL-1 and IL-6 might contribute to the development of paralysis after cerebral infarction, which through induction of the expression of adhesive molecules on leukocyte and endothelial cells,promoting the adhesion between leukocyte and endothelial cells and therefore, exacerbate the hypoxic-ischemic brain injury. The decreasement of the level s of plasama TNF IL-1 and IL-6 exerted by Chinese medicine combined with acupuncture therapy might be one of its possible therapentical mechanism in treating paralysis of cerebral infarction patients.
