Educational evaluation, basic educational theory and educational development are called three main areas of educational research in modern world. The development of educational practice needs more attention to educational evaluation, because education, as a system needs a good mechanism to guide, adjust and control its direction and make it effective. Based on the study of educational evaluation theory, the analysis of evaluation practice in China and abroad, the present study, by means of Documental Analysis, Experts Consultation, and Analysis Hieranchy Process, unfolded the study of comprehensive evaluation method of teaching performance in medical college. The study consists of three parts. Part I: The theory of teaching performance evaluation. On the target of evaluation, higher pedagogics is its theoretic basis. On the standard of evaluation, educational philosophy and educational economics and educational sociology are its theoretic basis. On the process of evaluation, system science is its theoretic basis. On the method of evaluation, educational statistics and surveying are its theoretic basis of quantitative analysis. Part II: The evaluation practice analysis of teaching performance. The practical activity and the current situation of teaching performance evaluation in China and abroad has been analyzed. Compared to the western countries, China has some disadvantages. The problems are mainly in two aspects: (1) the thought of educational management is backward and the methods of scientific management such as evaluation are ignored; (2) lack of scientific and effective implements, reasonable and workable evaluation item system and methods. Part III: A study on the comprehensive evaluation method of teaching performance in medical college. The study not only mapped out two item systems of evaluating teaching performance used by experts and students, but also designed adapted surveying charts and a method of quantification of evaluating information. Finally, it has been tested by practice of evaluation to be scientific, feasible and workable. It can be used as an implement of evaluating teaching performance in Chinese medical colleges.
