The xenoantigenicity of cardiovascular system on the inbred-line Banna pigAbstractOBJECT : The morphologic character and the distribution of xenoantigen (a -Gal ) on cardiovascular system of the Banna pig are observed and messured so as to provide information for xenotransplantation and breeding transgens pig.METHODS:The cardiovascular system on five Banna pigs (12-18 months old ) were studied and determined by gross anatomy, histology, affinity immuno-histochemistry and image analysis.RESULTS:(1) Banna pig heart and the human heart had many similarities in size, morphology and histology. However, the following differences were observed compared with the human heart: ①azygos vein directly drew into right atrium. ②The intercalated disk of cardiac muscle on Banna pig was less than the human. ③The Purkinje's fibre on Banna big was less and bigger than the human. (2) The a -Gal positive staining was appeared in endothelia cells on endocardium, epicardium, connective tissue between cardiac muscles, membrane of nerve bundle, and so on. However, the cardiac muscles and nerve fibre were negative. The a -Gal positive staining was no significant difference between right and left atrium endocardium. The a -Gal positive staining was no significant difference between right and left ventricle endocardium. The a -Gal positive staining was no significant difference between epicardium and connective tissue between cardiac muscles. The a -Gal positive staining on atrium endoca2rdium was higher than ventricle endocardium with significant difference (P
