Background:Nephrotic syndrome (NS) refers to a group of clinical syndrome because of variety of pathological damage with the following major clinical manifestations:lots of proteinuria (more than 3.5 g/d), hypoalbuminemia (less than 30g/L), edema and hyperlipidemia (including two of them is the prerequisite). Except NS which is caused by genetic diseases or systemic disease, the diagnosis of primary nephrotic syndrome (PNS) is established. PNS is an immune-mediated inflammatory disease. This disease is easy to relapses, and may lead to long-term massively proteinuria. If lack of timely controlled treatment, it usually presents to a progressive development until develops to End-stage renal failure, which brings heavy economic burden to the family and the society.For the treatment of PNS, clinical doctors commonly used combination therapy of hormone, cell toxicity medicines and anticoagulants. It has certain curative effect, but also exists problems such as easy relapse, easy hormone dependence and side effects. TCM holds that nephrotic syndrome belongs to the categorys including "edema, "urine turbidity", "virtual fatigue", "lumbago", "GuanGe". Using traditional Chinese medicine to treat PNS, can not only reduce and inhibit the illness relapses and improve the immune function, but also protect the kidney function, slowing down the extent of renal deterioration and prevent complications. It has advantages which western medicine is irreplaceableObjective:This paper analyses literature of the Chinese medicine treating PNS in recent years, and summarizes the literature of experts on PNS around pathogenesis analysis and clinical experience, in-depth understanding to the thought of them that they deal with the pathogenesis, diagnosis and treatment of this disease. Also It analyses the thoughts and experience of Zhouying treating the disease simply, it tries to will clinical combining with practice by medical record analysis, hoping to obtain the purpose of liberally plagiarize across the lines, and improve the clinical effectMethods:This paper summarizes the studies of TCM in PNS from the name, etiology and treatment. The disease mainly belong to motherland medicine "edema" category, according to clinical manifestations of different symptoms, sometimes it also can be found in "kidney wind", "urine turbidity, "lumbago," "virtual fatigue", "Grange" etc. Patients who get this disease are weak, catch cold, Irregular diet, or Emotional instability etc. Most doctors think the basic pathogenesis of it is asthenia in origin and sthenia in superficiality. Most physicians think the basic asthenia in origin of this disease is lung, spleen and kidney disorders, spleen and kidney deficiency, liver-kidney Yin deficiency,etc, The sthenia in superficiality includes wind dampness evil, dampness, hot and humid, stagnated blooded.Doctors treat those patients in different ways. Some treat them according to the periods of edema, some according to the periods of hormone therapy, some according to the syndrome types, some use special formula for the disease, some treat it according to different pathogenesis, and some use acupuncture to treat.
