Objective:To observe the effects of traditional Chinese medicine combined general lifestyle interfering the patients with impaired glucose tolerance combined metabolic syndromes on the diabetes transformation rate, the normal transformation rate and IGT stable rate. To observe the effects on the components of metabolic syndrome, the other cardiovascular risk factors and traditional Chinese medical clinical symptoms.Object:This study is a multicenter, randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial. After one month's leading period, those who were still meet the diagnosis of IGT (Qi and Yin Deficiency and Heat-type) would be include into the study. The research objects would be randomly divided into two groups:traditional Chinese medicine combined general lifestyle interfering group and placebo combined general lifestyle interfering group. Each group contained 210 patients. During the Observation period, if blood sugar changed into normal, than enter the 3-months' reduction period of consolidation with a reduced dose of half origin, then enter the half a year's follow-up period with only lifestyle interfering. If the blood sugar changed into DM, than start a standard DM treatment. If the blood sugar stayed to the IGT, than continue the original treatment to those blood sugar brought down, or add to double dose on those blood sugar brought up or haven't change. The observe time is 12 months. Analyzing and statistics those meet the diagnostic criteria for metabolic syndrome. Methods:A total of 122 cases were included in statistics, including 63 cases treated,59 patients in control group. General information, the main indicators level and TCM symptom scores has no significant difference in patients with baseline. Results:After 12 months'observation period, the treatment group's diabetes incidence is 22.22%, diabetes related risk reduction value of 55.6%, with the control group's diabetes incidence is 44.1%. Difference was observed between the two groups. The normal transformation rate of treatment group is 53.97%, with the control group has 35.6%. Difference was observed between the two groups. The IGT stable rate of treatment group is 23.81%, with the control group has 20.34%. Difference was not observed. For each component of metabolic syndrome:Blood glucose:FPG and 2hPG were significantly decreased after treatment, especially in treatment group. TG:TG levels were significantly decreased after treatment, the treatment group and control group has no significant difference between groups. HDL:For a huge missing data existed, it's difficult to determine the change in the situation HDL. Blood pressure:There has no significantly change after treatment. For other cardiovascular risk factors:there is a decreasing after intervention, but no significant difference between groups. The impact of the traditional Chinese clinical symptoms:the symptom scores decreased significantly after the treatment, but no significant difference between groups. The total effective rate was 49.18%, which was 44.44% in the treatment group, and 54.23% in the control group. Conclusion:The results shows that the traditional Chinese medicine combined general lifestyle intervention can protect patients with impaired glucose tolerance combined metabolic syndromes(Qi and Yin Deficiency and Heat-type) From transforming into DM. especially in the level of blood sugar. Second, the traditional Chinese medicine combined general lifestyle intervention can control other components of metabolic syndrome and cardiovascular risk factors increasing, which can also improve the TCM clinical symptoms.
