This article consists of two parts including the theoretical study and clinical study. The theoretical study, the first part, is divided into two reviews. The first review-Progress of Chinese medical research on obese type 2 diabetes mellitus-includes the name of the disease, pathogenesis, pathogenesis, pattern of syndrome, the treatment, brief summary and outlook. The second one-Progress of modern medicine studies on relationship between obisity and obese type 2 diabetes mellitus-includes epidemiology, pathogenic-factor,the common pathologic bases of obesity and obese type 2 diabetes mellitus, diagnose, prevention and treatment and brief summary and so on.The second part is clinical study. Objective:To compare the differences of the syndrome between obese type 2 diabetes mellitus and obesity without type 2 diabetes mellitus, reveal the symptomatology characters of obese type 2 diabetes mellitus, set a foundation standardization of syndrome differentiation of the disease observe if there is difference in general conditions and clinical data and there is the relevance of obese type 2 diabetes mellitus with related laboratory parameters, and laid the foundation for the prevention of the type 2 diabetes mellitus who are obese.Methods:179 cases of obese were divided into two groups according whether they are diabetes mellitus. According to Guiding Principles for New Drug Clinical Research of Chinese Medicine, the syndrome included Yin deficiency syndrome, Yang deficiency syndrome, Qi deficiency syndrome, blood deficiency syndrome, Qi stagnation syndrome, blood stasis syndrome, syndrome of hyperactivity of liver yang, phlegm-dampness syndrome, heat twisting syndrome, heat accumulation syndrome and damp-heat syndrome, compared with their sex, age, height, body weight, body mass index, waist, obese time, family history, blood presure, blood sugar and blood fats. The results were analyzed by statistics method, the measurement material's comparison by the t-test, the t'-test and the nonparameter test, the counting material's comparison by x2 test and syndromes associated with the laboratory parameters by bivariate correlation analysis. Results:Firstly, results show there is no significant difference between the groups of obese type 2 diabetes mellitus and obesity without type 2 diabetes mellitus on sex, age, height, body weight, body mass index, family history,TC and LDL(P>0.05). Secondly, there is frankly difference on waist, obese time, blood pressure, fasting plasma glucose, TG and HDL (P<0.05). Thirdly, there is significant difference on syndrome between the two groups (P<0.05),and the group of obese type 2 diabetes mellitus is dominated by phlegm-dampness syndrome and the other group by heat accumulation syndrome. The forth, the correlation analysis between FBG and Yin deficiency syndrome and heat twisting syndrome was statistically significant, the correlation index are 0.232å'Œ-0.236, TG and Qi stagnation syndrome and heat twisting syndrome are-0.233 and 0.215 and HDL-C and Yin deficiency syndrome is-0.211.Conclusions:Firstly, the main syndrome of obese type 2 diabetes mellitus was that it was dominated by heat accumulation syndrome, and the heat accumulation syndrome in liver and stomach is the main syndrome. Secondly, the waist, obese time, blood pressure, fasting plasma glucose and TG of obese type 2 diabetes mellitus are higher than the other group and HDH lower. Thirdly, Yin deficiency syndrome is positively correlated with FBG and negatively with HDL-C. The eat twisting syndrome is negatively correlated with FBG and positively with TG. Qi stagnation syndrome is negatively correlated with TG.
