County Resources And Environment Carrying Capacity

Evaluation on Resources and Environment Carrying Capacity is the core study of sustainable development research. This paper employed the theories from sustainable development, regional development, and regional difference to explore the evaluation methodology of the evaluation on the county level resources and environment carrying capacity in Yunnan Province basing on the current situation of resources and environment in Yunnan Province. This study summarized the domestic and international literatures on the resources and environment carrying capacity and characterized the evaluation on the county level resources and environment carrying capacity. It is defined that the county level resources and environment carrying capacity refers to the overall capacity supporting the people and their related social and economic demand with country space being technological supported in a particular time period in the context of sustainable development. Features include objectivity, relativity, limitation and controllability.By studying the indicator system and methodology of the county level resources and environment carrying capacity in Yunnan Province basing on the current situation of resources and environment in Yunnan Province, this paper identified five main evaluation elements, land suitability, water resources, water environment, ecological system and natural disaster based on the existing models and experiences from other resources and environment carrying capacity studies. This paper also introduced the details of each procedure and methods of each element evaluation. Moreover classifying the evaluation result from each element evaluation has also been conducted in accordance with the reality in Yunnan Province. Based on the element evaluations, the comprehensive evaluation on county level resources and environment carrying capacity was conducted in the township level. Based on the element evaluation, this study also synthesized them and conducted the comprehensive evaluation. The comprehensive evaluation renovated in synthesizing the element evaluation rather than accumulate single indicators. The displaying of comprehensive evaluation results was realized in township unit, which enables the evaluation results with higher spatial characteristics.
