Caac Aircraft Registered Number Recognition

At present, aircraft registered number recognition is still done by human beings in China airport, the recognition method is not only waste time but also waste energy. To save manpower and material resources, a method of CAAC aircraft registered number recognition is presented. This method, based on digital image processing and took CAAC aircraft registered number as the research object, is how to identify registered number and confirm airplane after location of registered number, registered number segmentation and character recognition.The major jobs of this thesis are as follows:(1) Location of registered number:We got a color image of registered number, carried on grey level treatment of the color image, segmented gray image into binary image using OTSU, removed non-registered number in binary image, confirmed the border of registered number in image according to vertical projection and horizontal projection, and located position of aircraft registered number.(2) Segmentation of registered number:Because registered numbers are inclined, so inclined registered number need to be corrected. this paper calculated the tilt angle of the character, corrected characters, and segmented characters of registered number using the peak and valley positions of projection curve.(3) Recognition of registered number:Because characters size is different, so the character is needed to be normalized to be standard character. Aircraft registered number is recognized crudely using the hole of character, and is further recognized using matching method. At last, we got registered number of aircraft to confirm airplane.Simulation results show that this method owns high intelligence and high rate of accuracy in the aircraft registered number automatic recognition, so this method, instead of airport personnel, can automaticly recognize CAAC aircraft registered number.
