Xi'an Leading Industry Choice

It is of major significance to choose the reasonable leading industries in Xi'an. It will be propitious to exploit Xi'an economic and social resources, accelerate the pace of industrialization, overall plan urban and rural development, and promote the development of small cities and towns in the middle part of Shaanxi province.There are seven integral chapters in this thesis to analyze the choice of leading industries.The chapter I., In this paper, mainly for the research background,research significance and framework.In chapter II.,through the definition of leading industry and exposition of previous theory with Chinese and foreign literature, the characteristics and deficiency are brought forward. Firstly,as to the definition of leading industry, this paper differenciates it from pillar industry, foundation industry, forerunner industry as well as superiority industry, They lay the concept foundation for this article.Secondly,about the theory of the choice of leading industry, this paper is based on the development economic theory as to industrialization viewpoint, the non-balanced development theory, the region growth poles theory, the comparison superiority theory as well as the industrial connection theory.Thirdly,about the Chinese and foreign literature aspect, this paper mainly reviewes the theories of overseas scholars Hirschmann, Clark, Kuznets, Rostow, Chenery, Hoffman, Shinohara Miyohei as well as Chinese scholars Zhou Zhenhua, Zhou Shulian, Liu Zaixing, Wang Yueping etc.Then in chapter III.,with description of Xi'an current situation and history of the development and achievement during 30years of the reform and opening up.the problem and deficit are found in Xi'an industry. From the view of industrial development structure, the main deficiencies are as follows:①As to ownership structure ,there are mainly about state-owned economic entity and lack of private economic entity.②From the view of geographical structure ,there are maily about small-scale local enterprises, which do not have a strong biochemical effects.③Internal structure of industrial is not quite rational, lack of sustainable ability.④Large enterprises groups are Insufficient and industry chain are imperfect, which can not have the effect of leading role to the local economy.The chapter IV. is about the foundation of choice criteria and evaluation index of regional leading industries. Based on controling and commenting former achievements,this paper takes three aspects into account as to leading industries. Firstly, leading industries present tendency of increasing with high demand and supply. Secondly, leading industries represent high degree of industrial linkage so they can inprove other industries. Thirdly, leading industries have comparative advantage to other industries from the view of regional competitiveness. Under the orientation of growth rate standard,comparative advantage standard and industry correlation standard,this paper strives to set up the comprehensive and explanatory index system.The chapter V. is the process of empirical analysis, the factor analysis mainly being used and cluster analysis with validation. After the subsequent normative analysis. Xi'an leading industries are selected eventually. There are transportation equipment manufacturing mainly about car manufacture and aerospace manufacture, chemical-based medicine and Chinese herbal medicine manufacturing, electrical-based machinery and equipment manufacturing industry mainly about electromotor and electrical transmission and distribution equipment. In chapter VI., under the current economic crisis situation, there are analysis about the three leading industries development environment, opportunities and challenges, with a view to provide a reference of Xi'an industrial policy. The last chapter of the thesis is a conclusion.In this paper, the hard working has been done to embody a combination of empirical and normative analysis, a combination of theory and practice analysis, a combination of deductive and inductive analysis. It will be the reference value for the adjustment of Xi'an industrial structure and deepening development of industrialization.
