Chongqing Auto Industry Cluster Development In The Global Value Chain

As the rapid development of the globalization, the auto industry producers, with the increasing characteristics of globalization, extend their value chain all over the world, which forms a global value chain of auto industry. Due to the property of auto industry, each region attaches great importance to the industrial cluster of auto industry. The core auto enterprise in the global value chain keeps on finding industrial cluster region of better potential as well as focusing on its core competitiveness, controlling the brand of the finished goods directly, manipulating the final assembly line and key components.The auto industry, as the mainstream industry in Chongqing city, has made great contribution to the economic construction locally and even the western region, meanwhile, the weak competitiveness of Chongqing auto industry is a fact. Therefore, on the basis of its local characteristic and development experiences home and aboard, how to solve the development of auto industry in Chongqing from the perspective of global value chain in the situation of financial crisis is of great significance.Base on the auto industry in Chongqing, this paper employs the tools of global value chain, theory deduction and case study, combines regional economics, industrial economics , management and related theory, borrows the development road of industrial cluster of auto industry in USA and Brazil, analyzes the position of Chongqing in the global value chain, points out some problems such as lack of R&D, puts forward two development models: embedding global value chain; extending value chain. Finally makes some suggestions from the perspective of government and enterprise.
