In China's national economy tourism has become one of industries which grow very fast and has obvious advantages in international competition. China's tourism policies have undergone three stages: in the initial stage, from 1978 to 1989, China formulated policies to promote the development of tourism; in the fast-growing stage, from 1990 to 2000, policies were formulated to build tourism industry system for promoting the development of national economy; in the stage towards maturity and a powerful tourism country, since 2001, policies have formulated to improve the quality of tourism industry and protect the ecosystem of tourism.These policies brought rapid development to our country's tourism, and made its position in domestic products continuously rising. It is not only realized its biggish outspread structure in industry size, but also lead to great changes in the following aspects: the condition of industry structure course; the degree of environment and industry systemizing; and the industry layout. And its constantly rising position in domestic structure makes China's status of tour major nation confirmed and heightens.With the development of our national economy and the improvement of Chinese people's living standard, many problems appeared in some aspects of traveling policies, such as the goal; the specific principal part; the content and implement. This article makes some feasible suggestions in policies towards these issues. The goal of policies turns to the continual development of tourism: the principal part of constitute policies should include tourism pertinent beneficiary; the policies content should assort with the mode of economy rising; each department should cooperate with others to implement the policies, and the government should reduce its intervention, etc... We have to do many things to make our country stride forward the tour major nation: solving the existent problems, bringing our superiority into full play, trying to exploit market, accelerating development of China's tourism in a healthy and abidance way.
