Knowledge Management Strategies, A Research Institute In The Software Project Development

The world has entered the knowledge economy age since 21 century; the knowledge is the key strategic resource for the existence and development of any enterprise. Facing the dramatically change of economical and competent environment, the enterprises depend more on the technology creativity for their success. Furthermore, the basis of this ability relies on the knowledge management.In one research institution, some means have been applied for the good of the knowledge management in the software project development. Such as: documentation management, technical communication, module integration, and encouraging knowledge-sharing. All are trying to form an organizational atmosphere and system in favor of the knowledge management. On the other hand, the shortage of theoretically instruction in knowledge management and major methods and techniques during the knowledge management practice, both affected the effective knowledge sharing in the software development process. This in turn decreases the overall efficiency of the software project development.This paper described the research background, influence and content based on the analysis of current problem in software development. This paper discussed the determinant, traps and development trend of knowledge management based on the literature review of the knowledge management, project management and software development. Based on theoretical method in knowledge management, this paper fulfilled the demand analysis in this department from the view of four aspects; this paper sorted related knowledge management work done in this department; also summarized the problems and shortages in knowledge management in this department. After all the above, this paper discussed detailed knowledge management strategy in software project development: on one hand, this paper specified the key issues in knowledge management: retrieval of recessive knowledge, knowledge-sharing and learning management; on the other hand, this paper analyzed the advantage and disadvantage of the knowledge management practice in the software development. Furthermore, the author proposed a"small house"knowledge management model based on the situation of this research department. Finally based on research result and knowledge of this department situation, the author proposed six key issues that should be highly addressed in the software project development.This paper proposed the knowledge management strategy for software project development based on the theoretical research and case study. It also generalized key issues in construction of the knowledge management system; summarized possible problems in the practice of knowledge management. It is the author's wish that this paper will benefit all who practice the knowledge management in software project development area.
