With the rapid development of world economy and international trade, the port, as international trade bridge, is more and more important to the development of area, even whole nation's economy. In an opening economy, the port environment influence how much fund/trade/ cargo one port can attract. In the world wide, in order to enhance one port's competition and speed nation economy development, the port authorities all take various measures to improve their port environment. In our country, more attention is also given to the port problem from both government and corporation.Concerning how to improve the port environment, many experts in domestic or abroad have done more research and put forward practical countermeasure, including the development pattern and favorable advice. But there are too many ports along our nation's coastline, it's irrational to study using a simply and similar theory. On the basis of reference and absorbing, we constitute measures fitting for the situation of our country and our ports. Only in this way, can it promote the development of the ports.In above background, this article on the basis of predecessors' research results and comparing with the main ports of other countries, focuses on the analysis of the port's competition. Through giving a suit of appraising index aiming at port environment and choosing some typical ports of our country, the author takes statistical analysis, then gets the result that which factors is the most necessary to be settled. Above this, the author gives the corresponding measures, and from the theory aspect, summarizes the general development pattern of our country's ports. Finally, taking Shanghai port as an example, the author dissertates how to improve the port environment in order to impel the construction of Shanghai International Shipping Center.
