As customers focusing more on product quality, product delivery time and cost of product, a company should introduce a system to maximize the productivity of the production system and improve the product quality continuously. Total productive maintenance (TPM) is the procedure based on management and maintenance of equipment, which improve the enterprises gradually. Take TPM action, build the nip in the bud system, it will take an important part in reducing the cost, increasing the productivity, improving the management and enhancing the competition ability of enterprise. TPM has been successfully applied in several foreign companies and large-size state-owned enterprises, bringing the improvement of productivity.Based on the study and analysis the basic TPM theory, this thesis takes a China-Japan joint venture auto air-condition manufacturing company as the object of study, analyzing the implemental plan of S company from the whole company side and the single worker side, especially introducing the details and effectiveness, including the introduction of the philosophy of TPM, the selection of the model area and model machine and the implementation on the model machine. After the implication of TPM model machine, both tangible and intangible benefits are shown to be obtained for equipment and employees respectively. The productivity of the model machine has increased by 77% and the aim of single improvement point has also been achieved. According to the real condition of the enterprise, the thesis discusses and analyses the practical aspects within and beyond basic TPM theory, difficulties in the adoption of TPM and the problems encountered during implication are discussed and analyzed. Moreover, the critical success factor for achieving TPM and the suggestions for future development and expansion in the whole company are also included based on the practical results gained from the study.
