Ports are the converging point of various modes of transport. The modern harbor is the hub of shipping, railways, highways, aviation and pipeline transportation and plays a very important position in the whole transport system. Meanwhile, through various modes of transport the ports associate economic hinterland and communicate industry, agriculture, commerce, foreign trade between production and consumption linkages. Therefore, the port is not only transportation network hub, but is the important part on the economy network. As the state's important infrastructure, ports have been provided by the public sector mainly and controlled strictly by government for a long time. Since 1980s, the rapid development of the world transport and large-scale development of container ships raised high demand to Port. Except of this, the improvements of economic and technical characteristics of ports and changes in the organization leaded to rise the port privatization and the port economy worldwide. In this background, in order to deal with worldwide changes in the ports, Chinese ports must also adjust and reform the investment mechanism and enhance the port's overall performance and efficiency. Therefore privatization of the port has become the inevitable.From 1986 out country's port privatization has experienced more than 20 years. As the reform of the port management system deepens, the authority and the investor give attention to the performance of the port enterprise more and more. Therefore, it is necessary to evaluate the performance of the port enterprise. The thesis sets up port enterprise performance evaluation system and selects 11 port privatized enterprises of our country as sample to analyze the performance.The framework of the thesis is as following:The first chapter is introduction to recommend the research purpose, significance, researching status around the world, basic ideas, main content and technical route. The second chapter presents the related theories about port privatization and port enterprise performance evaluation system. Chapter three is the current situation about port privatization in and out of China. Chapter four is to design the port enterprise performance evaluation system, including the principles, standards, content and construction of index system, and then to analyze our country's privatized port enterprises. Chapter five is conclusion and prospect, including the main conclusions of the thesis and what should be research further in future.
