Based on statistical data and the model of measurement economy, this paper appraised the direct services value of green space in Shanghai urban district. The paper also roughly calculated Shanghai's indirect services value, the calculation applied analysis method and computational method which are introduced by Costanza. Then green space value in Shanghai urban district and its counties was worked out. At the same time, the paper evaluated ecological consumption of both urban residents and suburban people. The computation refers to internationally recognized ecological footprint analytical method. Based on above results and took time and areas factor into account, the paper made analysis at length on difference (namely ecology debts or ecology earnings) between green space value and ecology consumption. The analysis resulted in some conclusions. The changing situation in 2000 to 2004: The computation result of data from 2000 to 2004 shows that: the value of green space kept increasing year by year, demonstrating that Shanghai made great effort on building the ecological city in recent years and achieved a lot in sustainable development. However, with the economy development and more population, the ecology consumption has a rapid growth; The differences between green space value and ecology consumption in Shanghai areas reveals the situation in different areas is quite imbalanced. Although the ecological debts or ecological earnings are different in areas in Shanghai, as a whole, the ecological debts were increasing yearly. This reflects since Shanghai speeded up its pace on economic development from 1990s, the environment and resource was over exploited, leading to damage and serious impact on environment.Different areas had different situation, analytical result of data from 2000 to 2004 indicates more developed area had more ecological debts. Urban district had the largest ecological debts in the successive five years, followed by Pudong, Baoshan and Minhang. Jiading's and Jinshan's ecological debts were relatively small. Other counties enjoyed ecological earnings, among these areas Chongming's ecological earnings was the largest, in other words, Chongming was a county with good environmental protection, next was Qingpu, it's also better area of ecology development, followed by Fengxian,Nanhui and Songjiang.According to above conclusions and taking 2004 data for example, the author adopted GIS software to process the Shanghai map. Different colors were filled in counties to indicate the respective ecological situation.
