With the speeding integration of world economy and China's joining the WTO, logistic enterprises are faced with ever stronger and fiercer international competition. To further reinforce the supervision of logistic companies, help them to improve their performance and enhance their international competitiveness are crucial. A comprehensive, correct and quick evaluation of their overall performance is a key and a base to guarantee their efficient operating, objectives realization and value pursuit. A comprehensive performance evaluation is beneficial to strengthen supervision, to create a quick, scientific and efficient operating situation, analyze problems in the process and accumulate experience, thus pointing a direction for the whole industry. Therefore, a comprehensive performance evaluation is very important, on which this paper made some helpful exploration.The performance evaluation of logistic firms have been considered for long an organic part of a business'planning and controlling, and its importance and function has been accepted by people. At present, the logistic market of China is not mature, the sphere of this industry is narrow, with poor theory foundation. Although logistic corporate management have realized that the development of modern businesses is subject to the development of logistics. However, because of one reason or another, efficient logistics is still a dream in China. This paper puts forward some ideas on how Chinese logistic companies should carry out their performance evaluation.This paper is divided into 4 parts. Chapter One, the introduction, deals with the background and meaning of this research. Also introduced are domestic and overseas logistic companies'performance evaluation practice, contents and framework of this dissertation. Chapter Two introduces the concepts of performance evaluation of logistic companies. It clearly defines modern logistic company performance evaluation and specifies its importance and contents of modern logistic company performance evaluation. Principles to set up a modern logistic company performance evaluation and to create objective and reasonable evaluation index system, are also pointed out and explained. Chapter Three deals with the establishing of modern logistic company performance evaluation system. Taking A company as a model, by comprehensively evaluating its operation, finance and market performance, the writer showed how the evolution system works. Chapter Four is about how to carry out and control modern logistic company performance evaluation. It is made clear that we should emphasize the change of minds, organization ways and control methods. The last chapter is the conclusion and outlook, which briefly states the major contribution of this essay and future research recommendations.The paper makes helpful theoretic exploration on modern logistic company performance evaluation system and methods. This new, comprehensive and systematic pattern, based on the performance evaluation index of finance, market and operation, can apply in wider areas. Of course this pattern is subject to the real use in companies, and welcomes modification and supplementing. In short, modern logistic company performance evaluation covers a wide range. People's pursuit for innovation will not end. In the future research, we need to research more on establishing and perfection of this performance evaluation system and how to improve the overall performance of logistic businesses, so that Chinese logistic industry can develop quickly.
