Energy is the "blood" of the modern industry. Energy security is a significant part inthe economic security and also an issue of vital importance to the economic and Socialdevelopment of China. Under the new structure of the 21st century all the countriesare involved in the competition for energy, especially for oil, in order to maintain asustainable development of economy. With greater and greater progress being made inour socialist modernization, China will maintain a fast-growing demand for energydue to its amazing economic development. Therefore, a stable and sufficient energysupply has become an urgent task China has to face in the coming decades.The thesis takes the early decades of the 21st century as the research background andpoints it out what challenges China faces in the field of energy security in the early21st century and what specific measures should be taken in order to guarantee theenergy security of China. The research indicates that China has to work out cleardevelopment strategy of energy, actively enters the international oil market andestablishes our strategic reserves of energy. In addition we need to deepen the reformin oil industry and accelerate the exploring process of energy, especially in oil andnatural gas.
