It has the peculiarly strategic value for a country.As the biggest consumer and importer in the world, the United States pays moreattention to its energy security. It always sees energy security as one of the mostimportant aims of its national security. After 9.11 Event, the United States has sped upbringing diversification of energy into effect to make sure its energy supply security.By the right of rich oil resource and geopolitical position which is favorable for theUnited States, Africa has taken up an important position in America's diversificationstrategy. Although Africa can not take place of Middle East, from a long term view, itcan reduce America's dependence on Middle East to some extent, makes America'senergy security on a broader basis, and help America achieve its global strategic target.The U.S. not only attaches importance to the Africa's oil, but also strengthens therelationship with them on diplomacy, trade and military drills. America has been in theascendant on Africa's energy market. But some challenges still exists, for example,terrorism, regional conflicts and the contest from western countries and other newlydeveloping countries.China is more and more dependent on the international oil and also stepping out itsimport diversification. America's African policy certainly will influence the Sino-Africatrade relationship. But in the times of globalization, energy security is interdependent. SoChina and America should cooperate with each other on the Africa's energy. |
