In June, 2000, the State Council decided to merge some state-owned aluminum enterprises into one large group. Registering the total capital of RMB11.38 billion, the ABC Group Corporation was founded on February 23,2001, and its subsidiaries were mainly located in Beijing, Shandong, Shanxi, Henan, Guizhou, Qinghai, Guangxi, Chongqing, Inner Mongolia, Shan'xi and Fujian. One of the subsidiaries under the Group Corporation holding 42.17% of the group succeeded in its initial public offering (IPO) in New York and Hong Kong stock market on December 11 and 12,2001 respectively.After the development of five years, the ABC Group Corporation became the most excellent enterprise in terms of asset scale, technology level, and revenue in China's nonferrous metals industry. Ranking the third largest aluminum corporation in the world, the group has become an important material supplier of aviation and spaceflight, national defense and war industry in China.The group sets up its five-year development strategy to face global challenge that includes controlling the advanced mine resources, developing resources within domestic and abroad, consolidating its advantage based on their own upstream production and satisfying the need of national defense, war industry and spaceflight focused on advanced technological processing product. It will be built as the world first-class enterprise and struggles to become a long-lasting company.The author expounds the corporation's continuance development strategy through analysis of the industrial competition status and the corporation's advantage and inferior position. Besides, the author puts forward advices and forecasts on continuance development strategy. Therefore, the paper will be useful and valuable to Chinese enterprises in other industries as well.
