In the ever changing and globalized environment, business competition and development rely to some measure upon business strategy compatible to internal strength and external scenario. With extensive heritage of technology and professionalism, A Architecture Design Institute is one of the 6 major institutes founded at the beginning of the People's Republic of China. The company was restructured as stock company in 2009. To compete in market-oriented and globalized industrial arena, the company encounters uncommon opportunities and challenges as well. As a matter of fact, the company has not made profound review of internal advantages and disadvantages as well as understanding of internal strength that are vital to be geared to external opportunities and challenges. Hence it's urgent to study business development strategy on the basis of relevant methods of strategy management.The paper is composed of six chapters. The first one is introductory, which briefly introduces the research object, background, research goals and the framework of the paper. In Chapter two, the author construes in this dissertation business macro-environment by means of PEST Analysis (Politics, Economy, Society & Politics), discusses status quo of architectural design market at home and abroad, and summarizes development trend in domestic & overseas architecture design market; next, five forces model is introduced to analyse industrial competition environment and summarize situation, strong & weak points of the competitors; In Chapter three, internal environment is analyzed together with SWOT (Strength, Weak, Opportunity & Threaten) Analysis; In Chapter four, the author makes an option of development strategy of the institute based upon four basic competition strategies, and makes opinions on implementation, as well as proposals on regional strategy and diversified strategy; In Chapter five, brief analysis and description are made regarding strategy support system in terms of business culture and organizational structure.
