| The development of informationization brought the emergence of WEEE (Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment). On one hand, the demand of electric and electronic equipments is increasing, which leads to the accumulation of electric and electronic equipments. On the other hand, the speed of wasting and eliminating electric and electronic equipments is getting faster and faster, which brings huge amount of WEEE. If WEEE could be handled properly, the recycled resources would be beneficial. Otherwise, serious environment problems would occur and human health would be threatened. Mobile phones, considered the volume or development speed, are typical electric and electronic equipments. There are plentiful precious metals which could bring substantial benefit if they could be recycled properly in waste mobile phones.View at this perspective, this thesis inspects potential and scale of recycling precious metals in waste mobile phones in China based on quantitative methods. This paper also analyzes current situation and existing problems in this industry from a practical point of view. Conclusions of this paper are: The volume of production and waste mobile phones in China is huge. It is predicted that in the year 2015, the volume of waste mobile phones will be 400 million, about 220 tons of silver, 40 tons of gold will be recycled from waste mobile phones and those precious metals will value more than 15 billion Yuan. This will make mobile phones recycling an important industry and recovery of precious metals will be supplements to significant strategic resources in China. Currently, there are still lack of standardization in recycling mobile phones in China, it is important to pay more attention to design and production, recycling and processing as well as to build a green and high efficient system through cooperation among producers, consumers, recycling enterprises and government. |
