Duan Karst Land Consolidation Potential Evaluation

Large population, poor quality arable land, being short of untouched arable land—these features spell out China's basic national conditions. Along with the rapid developing economies, all kinds of constructions occupies arable land which leads to serious wasting, destroying, polluting and serious population-land contradiction will threat to sustainable development. Therefore, our country has put forward the strategy of "Total Dynamic Balance of Cultivated Land ". It means that we must strictly control the arable land occupied by constructions and take more effort to enhance land exploitation, consolidation and reclamation in order to keep the total dynamic balance. So Land consolidation is the best choice to coordinating the development of resources , environment , population, economy and the food safety.Du'an County locates in northwest of karst area, Guangxi. As the implementing development of the western regions, expanding trade of China-ASEAN, cooperating in the Pan Pearl River Delta Region, the south-west sea route going through, all these provide favorable conditions for the rapid development of Du'an County.Yet, straining demand of land using will slow down the development of Du'an County in the process of industrialization and urbanization. Then land consolidation is the just key to resolve this conflict.The potential evaluation of land consolidation is an evaluation that base on the prospecting of land types, quantity, distribution and land suitability. It's an anterior basic work of land consolidation that gives service to general plans for the utilization of Land and land exploitation consolidation plans. Simultaneously it provides a reference to the partition of land consolidation and projects'distribution. Therefore, it is particularly important to carry out the potential evaluation of land consolidation in Du'an country that has serious population-land contradiction.Based on the existing data and the relevant theories of land consolidation potential evaluation, multi-factor comprehensive appraisal and fuzzy evaluation are applied in the study. We made the potential analysis of land consolidation of Du'an country based on land suitability evaluation, and then categorized the potential regions with some corresponding suggestions.
