In recent years, with the development of communication technique and the popularity of laptop computers people wish to access network or hold on the communication even if they are moving. Ad Hoc Networks is a kind of multi-hop wireless networks and a self-configuring network consisting of mobile endpoints equipped with sending mechanism. In Ad Hoc networks, multimedia applications require the network to guarantee Quality of Service. However, because of limited storage and dynamic network topology, research of QoS in Ad Hoc is still a challenge. In the thesis, the recent research progress all over the world is overviewed. On the basis of researching of TORA, we propose a new multi-path QoS routing Algorithm in Ad Hoc networks.TORA is a self-adaptive distributed routing algorithm on the method of "link reversed". In the thesis, the research progress of multi-path TORA and TORA supporting QoS is overviewed.Secondly, we propose a new multi-path QoS routing algorithm which is called Q_MTORA on the basis of TORA protocol. The novel point is that it improves IMEP to attain link bandwidth and link delay, it adds QoS parameter in route request packet and it uses weight of path to decide routing choice. Q_MTORA makes the best use of multi paths to get better benefit in Ad Hoc networks. Finally, Network Simulator version 2 is used in the thesis to simulate Multi-path QoS routing algorithm. The results show that the protocol is feasible. Comparing the experiment data with that of traditional TORA, Multi-path QoS routing algorithm has less delay and better transmission performance while networks vary acutely or networks has a heavy load.
