If the component GIS and multimedia technology are applied in the tourism industry,they will provide us a kind of visible query method,and make the users and the computers have the dialogue penetrately,and obtain the needed information conveniently. Thus, it will certainly enhance the practicality of the system. Yanchi is one of the most important tourist cities in the western China, and it is rich in tourism resources. If we apply these two techniques to the local tourism industry, we will deepen the process of the informationization of tourism industry and then promote the sustainable development of the tourism industry.Firstly, the thesis introduce the present research situations on tourism navigation system at home and abroad, elaborating the background and the significance of the system based on the research in Yanchi county. Then, it analyses the advantages of applying the component GIS and Multimedia technology to the tourism navigation system. Basic theory and relevant technology related to system development are introduced afterwards. The system development target has been preliminarily established. Analyzing the consumer need, feasibility, data source, it proposes the scheme. It also realizes the system takes Visual Basic 6.0,MapObjectst 2.4 and GeoLOD 4.0 as the development platform, and uses Access 2003 to manage non-spatial data.
