In order to meet the real-time demands of some missile networked test, Local Area Network techniques and IEEE 1588 Precise Time Protocol (PTP) are adopted in the LXI Automatic Test System (ATS) which designed in the paper, and the level of time synchronization precision in the system is improved. In this paper, time synchronization technique IEEE 1588 of LXI ATS is mainly researched.Firstly, test requirements of macroparameter of this missile are analyzed. Besides, the time synchronization techniques of ATS based traditional instrument buses are compared with the techniques of LXI ATS. Accordingly, the necessity of LXI ATS time synchronization technique study is put forward.Secondly, sorts of time synchronization techniques based on Local Area Network are analyzed. In addition, some methods which could improve the level of LXI data real-time communications are presented. Afterwards, technique realizations of PTP are studied in detail.Thirdly, both the time synchronization precision errors and the sources of the errors are analyzed according to time stamp. In addition, the precision and stability of Slave Clock frequency are compensated by time stamp separately; Schemes of measuring time synchronization precision are also proposed based on time stamp. In succession, a timing trigger method is adopted to validate the correctness of one of measuring schemes mentioned above.Finally, the LXI ATS of macroparameters of this missile is designed, and the application of time synchronization technology in this ATS is introduced. In LXI-B Class ATS, the network structure is also designed. Besides, the applications of time synchronizaton technique based on triggering are analyzed.
