As a kind of digital phone, Voice over IP(VoIP) is an innovative communication service. It converts the voice by contracting and coding, packing and grouping, distributing route, storing and switching, dividing and decompressing etc, which realizes voice communication on Internet. It promotes network resource utilization, reduces the cost of voice services. Now VoIP expands very fast in the world. It has been one of the fastest developing technologies and will be one of the future developing directions of Internet.This paper designed and implemented a VoIP Data Analyzing System(VDAS) which can collect data from many distinct sites and perform multiple operations, such as data analysis, high-speed packet assembling, voice decoding , etc. As a result, the voice is recovered. We gived a detailed introduction on VoIP protocol specifications, system architectures, working principles and critical techniques etc. Then we pointed out the superiority and problems of VoIP. We proposed the analytic procedure of the VoIP protocols, and clarified signal formats of the two important VoIP protocols: H.323 and SIP. The analyzing results are the base of VDAS . We designed the module structures of VDAS , and realized this system based on a kind of data collecting device.VDAS has been employed in our working environment and gained some benefits, which verified its application effectiveness and prospect.
