It is widely accepted that mobile digital television becomes the most popular and advanced form of multimedia broadcasting. China Mobile Multimedia Broadcasting, CMMB for short, which is published by national broadcast bureau and enjoys completely Chinese intellectual property rights and advanced transferring technology named STiMi, is promising in the field of multimedia as it well satisfies the Chinese markets. In order to speed the development of CMMB, it is necessary to design a dedicated testing system to analyze the effect of receiving CMMB signals in motion and coverage of signal in the city. This paper is mainly to implement the system of CMMB signal receiving.Firstly, there is a brief description about the construction of CMMB system and its multiplex frame structure. Components of CA and ESG are explained in detail. According to those basic contents , a detailed design is completed on both software and hardware component for this system. Based on existing receiving module of hardware, the design is simplified otherwise with a high performance. The software of system is mainly developed with the help of SDK of SMS1180 produced by Siano. In the end, the system basically achieves its aim through some functional tests. The signal receiving system designed in this paper is served as part of CMMB road test system. It is integrated in the whole application in the end. The ultimate implemented project can be used to watch real time digital television services with a record of receiving quality of signals and intensity of coverage at the place nearby where is covered by CMMB networks. Those test results are helpful for analyzing the coverage effect of SFN and gap-filled network of CMMB.
