Email, as a wide used business, has become a main channel of communication. With the fast development of information technology, e-mail has been attracting attentions. The work done is as follows:(1) Basic theories of secure e-mail system are studied. From the framework of e-mail system, features of e-mail protocols are analyzed. operation mechanism of two different e-mail systems are compared. Main security problem facing the current e-mail system and key technologies of constructing it are illustrated. Typical cryptographical algorithms including AES and RSA are studied. And e-mail digital signature and theories concerned with inconstestability are discussed, providing theoretical foundation for the analysis and design secure e-mail system. Defects of PEM, S/MIME, PGP are also analyzed from the perspectives of structural feature, key management, main encryption algorithm and encryption process, which facilitates the design of secure e-mail system.(2) Web-based PGP secure e-mail system is studied and designed. Securer AES and RIPEMD-160 encryption and abstract algorithm are adopted instead of IDEA and MD5. Bayes intelligent analysis filtering technology is used. Main problems in e-mail system, such as e-mail encryption, signature, approval, auto filing and spam are solved, which solves the defects of current scheme, and improves security of e-mail system.(3) A Web-based PGP secure e-mail system is implemented. E-mail sending and receiving of SMTP server is achieved. Functions as PGP encryption, signature, decryption, verification are completed. Examples of operation results are presented. And functions as rule set, e-mail filtering, unclear e-mail process are improved.
