Wavelength assignment and optimization plays an important role in WDM system planning and designing, which set the stage for the allocation of resource in the construction of WDM upgrade.WDM wave channel optimization and algorithm improvement is not just the key but also the difficult point in simplify WDM system planning program, Limited by objective condition,in course of WDM designing,most wavelength assignment work are finished by human being; that makes engineer works round the clock with low efficiency. but the planning result seems not ideal,Resources waste graveness; establishing an efficient wavelength allocation mechanism,which based on the shortest path algorithm and the protection mechanism is the trend of our WDM system designing.At present, the main services carried by WDM are IP,SDH and stand-by channel, how to properly planning channel on the basis of service requirement and capacity of WDM is the difficult part of WDM system designing.paper based on the basic theories of WDM, First introduced in Power Equalization and related applications, the key technology such as multiplexer, demulti-plexer and node technology, For its protection, combining with RWA (route and wavelength assignment) algorithm, paper come up with a optimization method for dynamic distribution algorithm, and combined with the protection,we improved evaluation criteria. at last, we made a simulation model of a practical WDM system; making a wavelength assignment based on routing optimization and wavelength assignment algorithm. Draw a parallel between the simulation results.The result shows compared with traditional algorithm, the algorithm results in a better effect in fairness, the congestion rate decline. We summarize the work at last chapter and prospect the next stage of research work for the future, Presents the corresponding improvement directions with the WDM development characteristic.
