With the global "information superhighway" development, and broadband video, multimedia, and other emerging business growing, especially the rapid growth of Internet business, the backbone of wide area network bandwidth made increasing demands. Optical Transmission Network based on Wavelength-division multiplexing (WDM) technique has became a hot research field now, because of its large capacity and agility. Therefore all-optical networks based on the concept of WDM and wavelength routing RWA (Routing and Wavelength Asignment, RWA) is considered as a candidate for the next generation transport network. As the important components in Wavelength routing optical networks, wavelength converters play an indispensable role in eliminating the wavelength continuity constraint, improving the reusability of wavelengths, enhancing the flexibility of the networks; keeping compatibility when interconnecting the equipments provided by multi-vendors. It is of great practical and theoretical significance to research the performance influence of the wavelength converters in Wavelength routing optical networks. In this thesis, we focus on the performance issue of WRONs with wavelength conversions and the RWA algorithm, with wavelength converter placement question. At first we analyzed the optical network joins the partial wave-length variable pitch point to the network performance improvement and on how reasonable placed in WDM optical network switching nodes in order to achieve better network performance to improve the effectiveness of the study. Disposes the switch in the network is decided to the network performance improvement by the network analysis situs and the size, and the serviceable wave length number and uses RWA algorithm. And we carried on the analysis comparison to several kinds of dispositions algorithms.Next, a novel priority-based wavelength assignment algorithm in All-optical Networks with partial wavelength conversion is proposed, based on link independent assumption and the method of calculating the network the blocks probability. It improves the routing and wavelength assignment presented by others. This algorithm fits the demand of different business for asking the grade of corresponding different services in the modern all-optical network than the original algorithm. By using the algorithm, the blocking rate of the high priority request is guaranteed to be a lower degree, and at the same time the proposed technique can be applied to analyze all-optical networks with arbitrary wavelength conversion. At last we study the network surviving problem in WDM network with Partial Wavelength Conversion. Based on the layered graph, a routing and wavelength assignment algorithm based on QoS in survivable WDM network is proposed. This results show that this algorithm can not only meet the different QoS requirements of the client layer's service, but also utilize the finite networking resources efficiently with the reduced blocking probability.
