Along with the development of IP technology, the communication network is gradually involving IP technology into the entire network. The soft-switch equipment based on 3GPP R4 framework has been widely used in China's GSM network, network traffics are migrating form time division multiplex network to IP step by step. Based on the soft-switch technology and the IP technology, the next generation core network makes the first choice for the operators. With the development of IP technology in core network and the large-scale construction, the reliability of the network and the variety of the application is becoming more important. This thesis is based on the research with IP bearer soft switch network, discussing the connectivity network, signaling and call flow and the redundancy method and making design of GSM core network upgrade method.This thesis discusses three parts:Firstly, it describes the protocol stacks and messages of each interface. Secondly, it analyzes ATM and IP connectivity's influence to Qos of mobile network, and gives the solution of connectivity based on the feature of the current network and present condition. The thesis also presents three ways to implement the voice call flow and make analysis about the difference and condition for implementation. Thirdly, it analyzes the redundancy methods using parameter RPO & PTO, and gives a solution of MSC server redundancy with the relevant network design and traffic forecasting. Finally, we make analysis about the safety and reliability of the upgrade solution, offering reference to mobile network development in high speed environment.
