Because Hospital management information system (HIS) is able to make reliable guaranty for improving the quality of medical service, reducing health care costs, and increasing the social and economic benefits, the build of HIS is paid more and more attention by people now. As a sub-system of HIS, appliances and equipment management subsystem (AEMS) can resolve the problems of the medical equipment and materials during the medical activities, and simplify the operation process. Based on the latest research progress of HIS and the aim to using it in practice, we finished our research work and designed this sub-system which fully met the practical application of the hospital on the process of HIS and reflected the principle of the perfect combination of the modern hospital management ideas and. the computer information technology.At first, the paper introduced the concepts and application prospects of HIS and AEMS. During the introduction of AEMS, it gave a computer running program which was based on POWERBUILDER development platform and independently designed according to the client/server (C/S) architecture by us. At the same time, we successfully used the powerful Oracle database system and database tuning techniques and massive data query optimization techniques to design software development. All these design features not only increased the throughput of the system and shortened the response time to system, but also improved the overall running efficiency. This system used role-based access control to prevent hacking the core data in Database. It owned many obvious advantages, such as low maintenance costs of security, better security control effect. The system promoted the standardization and regulation of hospital management as well as improved the efficiency of the hospital.Most importants:Appliances and equipment management subsystem realized all kinds demands of the hospital medical equipment management. The important and difficult issues of this research is how to achieve good appliances and equipment management and powerful query capabilities, to provide a reliable basis for decision-making of the hospital.Finally, the paper simply analyzed the advantages and further improvements needed in future in the Appliances and equipment management subsystem of HIS completed now, and made a summary of the full text and outlook for future.
