With development of modern industry, energy demand for coal is increasing, and in the process of mining accidents, mine safety has become a focus of attention. In order to resolve the mine safety problem, the paper design intelligent gas monitoring system based on field bus technology which greatly improved the performance. The purpose of this research is to combinative the CAN bus in field bus technology and intelligent gas sensors to achieve intelligent monitoring and control underground, and assure reliability of real-time data.This paper firstly introduces the concept of field bus, characteristics, classification and the study status, which focuses on the CAN bus technology characteristics and technical specifications, and then based on CAN bus intelligent gas monitoring system's overall structure is designed. After that the smart sensor systems, power electronics, infrared detection circuits, signal conditioning circuits, sound and light alarm circuit, display circuit, control circuit, and CAN bus interface circuits and other hardware circuits and part of the software are designed. Smart sensor is able to realize the concentration of methane gas collection, display, keyboard input, as well as limit alarm and output control functions, and through the CAN bus interface transfer data to the control room. Finally, multi-sensor data fusion and data mining technology is used in gas monitoring system, experimental data show that Data mining technology and the use of information fusion technology can greatly improve system accuracy and reliability.
