With the rapid development of WLAN technology, more and more applications start to convert to WLANs. The continuity of the mobile service demands wireless networks being able to support frequent and fast handovers from on access point to another, while security authentication enhances handover latency greatly. In order to solve the latency problem, some secure fast handover protocols are proposed. Implementing secure fast handover protocols is a very important approach to verify and test the protocols. In this paper, based on the study of the existing secure fast handover protocols in WLANs and the analysis of a new protocol called WSFHP(WLAN Secure Fast Handover Protocol), a secure fast handover system is designed and implemented, and the protocol is verified and tested.First, backgrounds about WLANs and secure handover are briefly introduced. Secondly, based on the study of the existing secure fast handover protocols, a new secure fast handover protocol called WSFHP is presented, and the completed fast handover process is analyzed. The features of key hierarchy and performance of above protocols are compared. Then after the analysis of the protocol, a secure fast handover system is designed and implemented. The system consists of supplicant, AP and authentication server modules. Finally, an experiment platform is built, and the secure fast handover system is tested. The testing result shows that the secure fast handover system attains the design goal, the secure fast handover protocol is well implemented on the system, and it reduces the handover latency.
