Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN) is a flexible Data Communication System, which reduces the requirements of wire connection as many as possible and combines data connectivity with user's mobility, mainly utilizing Technology of Radio Frequency to send and receive data. However, the flexibility of WLAN is at the cost of more security threats from hackers. The access to wireless network has become the bottleneck of further development of WLAN technology. This paper firstly studies current WLAN network security goals and the mainstream of WLAN security protocols, and indicates deficiencies in the efficiency and safety based on the analysis of protocol interaction and key management. Then, a new WLAN security protocol EAHKMP is proposed, which uses the IEEE 802.1x+ EAP framework and implements authentication interactions and key agreement at the same time. This new protocol has covered the security management for both initial access and mobile handoff. Theoretical analysis shows that compared to traditional WLAN security protocols, EAHKMP has reduced authentication interactions and finished handoff master key agreement, making the authentication process more simple and efficient and switch faster. At the same time, based on network simulation software OPNET and combined with the characteristics of WLAN security protocols, this paper has modeled IEEE 802.1x state machine, EAP authentication protocol and the upper specific authentication methods and appended to the existing wireless sites model and the access point model in OPNET, to ensure not only the normal communication between sites, but also achievement of safety management, and finally set up a performance testing platform for WLAN security protocols and carried out EAHKMP protocol simulation test, which is compared in performance with EAP-TLS and WAPI protocol. The experimental results show that the simulation platform of WLAN security protocol is scalable and EAHKMP protocol has advantages of high efficiency.
