| Because sketch-based 3D modeling technology is conducive to free and rapid expression of creative thinking, and can make full use of strong power of computers, it has become a focus of computer graphics, design, artificial intelligence and other fields of research.Begin with sketch-based modeling, sketch-based 3D modeling technology and its applications have been studied in this paper, including present situation of domestic and foreign researches and development of sketch-based 3D modeling, techniques related to sketch-based 3D modeling, such as sketch processing,3D information extraction, generation and editing of 3D surface; some specific examples are used to demonstrate the application of sketch-based 3D modeling technology in conceptual design and costume design; and a 3D CAD modeling system and a 3D virtual garment modeling system have been developed. The main contributions include:(1) A sketch-based 3D CAD modeling system has been developed. It is supported that users make a sketch in the interface, and use it as the input of 3D modeling in the system. A method of three-line node analysis is proposed to implement the reconstruction from sketch to 3D geometry. The system supports sketching on the original model, to reconstruct polyhedrons and curve objects.(2) A sketch-based virtual garment modeling system has been developed. A new sketch analysis algorithm has been proposed, for the analysis of characteristic lines of sketch, such as contour lines, boundary and folds. For modeling of fit garment and loose garment, two different modeling methods have been developed to generate garment surface. |
