With the gradual deepening of reform and opening up, great changes have been taken in China's ideological and moral education. Education areas have been expanded from ideological education initially to political education, moral education, psychological education, ecological education, etc. With the scientific orientation of the goal of ideological and moral education, its content system is perfected and its education model is innovated constantly. Tremendous successes are achieved in ideological and moral education. Meanwhile, college students are impacted and challenged by the westen ideas, negative sides of market economy and international environment. Some problems are emerged between the college students, which would impede the further grogress of ideological and moral education.The thought of"benevolence, righteousness, propriety, wisdom and fidelity"is the core of our traditional culture, and the traditional viture in Chinese nation. In ancient China, the thought of"benevolence, righteousness, propriety, wisdom and fidelity"is an effective weapon in ideological and moral education for the ruling class. It coulde mainten the social stability,and what's more, it can improve the ideological and ethical standard of the people. Till now, though fundamental changes have been taken compared to the past, as long as we see the thought of"benevolence, righteousness, propriety, wisdom and fidelity"from dialectical materialism of Marxism, the negative factors would be eliminated, and the reasonable elements would be refined. It can still paly a key role in lifting the ideological and moral quality of the college students.Paper is divided into five parts. The first part introduces the research background, significance and methods; the second part give a brief overview of the thought of"benevolence, righteousness, propriety, wisdom and fidelity"from its origin, development process, content and the meaning in the new era; the third part gives a brief description of ideological and moral education first, and then introduces the relation between the thought of"benevolence, righteousness, propriety, wisdom and fidelity"and ideological and moral education. Their links on goal, content and method are the theoretical basis of the paper; the fourth part indicators the problems of moral personality in widom and faith part of the college students, which is the actual basis of the paper; and the last part analyzes the methods for researching the thought of "benevolence, righteousness, propriety, wisdom and fidelity", how to adhere the scientific dialectical attitude, and how to strength the ideological and moral education substantially.
