The fundamental task for higher education is to educate students through moral ethics.The public has attached great importance to the moral education for college students with the support of a variety of policies.Nevertheless,there are still a number of problems about moral education in colleges.Moral characters consisting of the moral cognition,moral emotion,moral will and moral behavior have witnessed that moral emotion as a crucial link plays an important role in deepening the moral cognition,strengthening moral will and regulating moral behavior.It is necessary for college students to strengthen moral emotional education that helps the moral education to play a full role.Moreover,the perfection of moral personality for college students also requires the condensation of personal tenacity on the basis of the moral emotion.Therefore,moral emotional education is also of great significance to the improvement of the efficiency of moral education and moral personality.The benevolence thought created by Confucius contains wonderful moral and emotion educational value inspiring college students highly in the aspect of educational objectives,contents and goals.Therefore,aiming at the existing problems of moral and emotional education of college students,this study excavates the resources of the Master’s benevolence thought that are beneficial to the education for providing new ideas to the moral and emotional education in colleges.Firstly,the connotation of benevolence as well as moral and emotional education for college students are illustrated respectively,focusing on the statement of benevolent thought about its primary contents,moral goals and methods.Some related concepts about moral emotion and its education are also demonstrated.Secondly,the contemporary vale of benevolence thought and its impact to moral emotional education are stated.It is noted that benevolence thought implies caring and loving emotion of a benevolent individual,the spirit of dedication with the loyalty and forgiveness,social responsibility conscientiousness with benevolence and times value for cultivating gentleman’s personality comprehensively.It takes a great position in focusing on the moral education,promoting the effectiveness of moral emotions and paying great attention to students’ subjective status and individual differences.Thirdly,the author is supposed to make a deep analysis on the existing problems from four aspects including oneself,others,society and nature,combining with the experience of part-time counselor work.After that,a deeper analysis on difficulties about moral and emotional education for college students should be made from the perception of its goals,contents,and methods and figure out reasons in accordance with factors on students,families,society,and colleges.The research sees that colleges cannot endeavor to develop the moral emotional education,the most crucial factor.Finally,in conformity to abovementioned difficulties about moral emotion and education for college students,the enlightenment of benevolence created by Confucius on moral and emotional education for college students is expounded from following manners embracing goals,contents and methods.Hierarchy and subjectivity should be taken into consideration while setting moral emotional education goals in conformity to the Gentleman Personality.It is of great necessity to promote the content of moral and emotional education for college students in terms of the main content of benevolent thought,and adopt a number of moral and emotional education strategies with the help of manners of benevolence initiated by Confucius.
