"AIDUTI"is a linguistic phenomenon which is indispensable in Japanese communication. It is a requisite behavior factor when communicate with a Japanese, just like the lubricating oil. Without"AIDUTI", it is difficult for the communication to continue for a long time.Nowadays, however, it seems that the importance of"AIDUTI"has not been paid much attention to in China. There are few research results about it and there is almost no professional explanation or training in our Japanese education. Although there are many papers on"AIDUTI"from different perspectives in Japan, most of the research objects are daily conversations and interviews are rare.In this thesis"AIZUTI"in interviews are research object."AIDUTI"in the collection of data are analyzed quantitatively and the characteristics of"AIDUTI"are concluded."AIZUTI"in interviews, in phone conversations and in daily conversations are analyzed quantitatively and compared, then the characteristics of"AIDUTI"in interviews are summed up. Then"AIDUTI"which have the high frequency in interviews are taken as the analytic target and their characteristics and functions are analyzed. Moreover, the functions and reasons of their frequent use are analyzed and explained. Finally, the types, functions and characteristics of"AIDUTI"are analyzed and investigated from the perspective of the interviewer and the interviewee respectively. Following conclusions can be got based on the above research:First, the types and numbers of"AIZUTI"in the collection of interviews are counted and the virtual conditions and the characteristics are analyzed. According to the results, the characteristics of"AIDUTI"in interviews agree with that of ordinary conversation."AIDUTI"which promotes conversation is used most frequently either in interviews, phone conversations or ordinary conversations."AIDUTI"used in phone conversations is used the most frequently. It is because the counterparts can not see each other and Japanese will feel uneasy without"AIZUTI"."AIDUTI"used in interviews is used the least frequently. It is because the roles are fixed in interviews, i.e. the interviewer asks a question and the interviewee gives an answer."AIDUTI"used to show understanding is most frequently used in interviews because interviews are open conversations, the interviewer uses more"AIDUTI"to show their understanding so that the conversation can be carried out smoothly. The frequency of"AIDUTI"used in ordinary conversations is fall in between.Secondly, From the perspective of pragmatics, the Quantity maxim and Quantity maxim are violated apparently. However, the Politeness Principle and Face Theory are obeyed to ensure the progress of the conversation.Thirdly, The interviewer often uses"AIZUTI"which means understanding, while the interviewee often uses"AIUTI"which means stop and acknowledge.The older often uses"AIZUTI"of「ウンsystem」「,ソウsystem insistence type」「,ソウsystem agreement type」, while the younger often uses"AIUTI"of「アsystem」,「エsystem」,「マヲトルソウsystem」. The man often uses"AIZUTI"of「アsystem」, while the woman often uses"AIUTI"of「ソウsystem insistence type」.
