Objective:To evaluate microsurgery lumbar discectomy(MSLD) for calcified lumbar disc herniation of the short-term effect.And to explore the advantages and disadvantages of the operation method and the matters needing attention for future clinical treatment. Methods:This study used telephone follow-up and a questionnaire-type survey method. Preoperative and postoperative by JOA score, including the subjective symptom,clinical signsand daily activities by limits(ADL) were evaluated.35 patients diagnosised calcified lumbar disc by CT will be divided into A group(preoperation) and B group (postoperation). All cases were operated with MSLD.Results:All patients were follow-up 6 months to 2.5 years (average 1.5 years).The results were excellent in 25 cases(71.4%), good in 8 cases(22.9%), fair in 2 cases(5.7%)and poor in 0 cases(0%) according to the JOA scoring system.Excellent and good results were achieved in 94.3% of the patients.The mean improve rate was 75.75% and no serious complications occured. Compared to preoperation and postoperation for 6-month.there was a signicant increase of JOA score(P<0.05).Conclusion:Conservative treatment for calcified lumbar disc herniation invalid surgical treatment should be used.Surgical treatment of MSLD on calcified lumbar disc herniation is an ideal treatment.Short-term efficacy is superior.It has a better security,convenience,easy,less complications and best clinical curative effect,which is worthy of promotion.
