Study On Sub-health Status And Its Influential Factors Of Adolescent In E'zhou City

Objective: To investigate the sub-health status and try to describe its'main symptoms and risk factors of adolescents in E'zhou city, so to provide evidences to etiology and protective measures of sub-health status.Methods: Two thousand and one hundred and sixty two adolescents were obtained by using cluster-random sampling method, all subjects distributed in two high schools and two junior schools (rural area and urban area schools were equality of opportunity) and one college in E'Zhou city. Subjects with any serious diseases were excluded. A home-made Multidimensional Sub-health Questionnaire of Adolescent (MSAQ) were conducted among this study, deleted those unqualified questionnaires collected, all data input into computer with Epidata 3.0. We divided the samples into three groups according to its'study level, and frequency estimation method were used to assess the main symptoms of sub-health,χ2-test were used to analyze disparity of prevalence between rural area and urban area, males and females, and different groups; at the same times, t-test were used to compare means between different dimension; Logistic regression analysis were used to assess the risk factors of sub-health status, all test were two tailed, with theαvalue set at 0.05. All analyses were conducted with the SPSS version 15.0 statistical package.Results:Ⅰ. Two thousand and fifty five adolescents were effective(effective reply rate was 95.05%), and 343 students with body and mind sub-health were identified and the prevalence was 16.7%,the prevalence of sub-health status didn't show significant difference in gender and regions (p>0.05), but showed significant difference among age groups(p<0.05).Ⅱ. The somatic and psychic sub-health status prevalence of adolescent in E'zhou city was 25.2%, 35.3% respectively. Prevalence of somatic sub-health status in junior high school students, high school students and college students were 27.4%,26.3%,21.2% respectively;psychic sub-health status prevalence were 32.2%,43.5%,25.9% respectively, the difference were signification among age groups(p<0.05).Ⅲ. The main symptoms of sub-health status include nasal obstruction, increased food appetite, easy to awaken with a startle, and easy to fatigue, difficult to concentrate attention, memory decline, difficulty of learning, restlessness and difficulty of interpersonal communication. All above symptoms, except nasal obstruction, easy to awaken with a startle, difficult to concentrate attention, and memory declined (p>0.05), were different significantly among the age groups (p<0.05).Ⅳ. Logistic regression analysis showed that the poor family economic status (OR=1.711), heavy burden of study (OR=2.194), high expectation to children(OR=2.556), not enough sports(OR=2.117) were the risk factors of somatic sub-health status; and poor family economic status (OR=1.485), heavy burden of study(OR=1.696), dietary bias(OR=1.369), had no bosom friends(OR=1.441), smoking (OR=1.583) were risk factors of psychological sub-health status.Conclusion: The sub-health status of adolescents in E'Zhou city were serious and attention should be attracted by school, family and the society. It is urgent to exploit comprehensive measures to prevent development of sub-health status due to its'unclear etiology and nonspecific symptoms, it's very important that school, family and the society should combine to build good atmosphere to development of adolescent.
