Objective To investigate the current utilization and demand status of reproductive health and contraception control service on the college students in China, explore and construct the new technical model of short-acting contraception, supply scientific evidence for interfering acquiring contraception control properly and effectively.Methods The questionnaire survey was conducted over 81000 college students with different school types in 7 cities through stratified and cluster sampling. Then, interfering activities was provided in form of lectures and network publicity for the students who participated the baseline survey above in Wuhan and Chongqing.Resultsa The self-reported incidence of sexual behavior in unmarried college students was 15.65% totally(undergraduate, 12.55%; unmarried postgraduate, 22.82%), and the male's was higher then than female's with significant statistical difference; the rate of unexpected pregnancy was over 30% among the objects who had sexual behavior; the main contraception methods included condom, long-acting oral contraceptive, rhythm method; the common sources of acquiring the contraceptive medicines and devices were medicine store, supermarket, auto-seller; the reason why do not take any contraceptive measures included had no sexual plan , had no contraceptive medicines and devices , accidental sexual behavior did not lead to pregnancy , inconvenience, lack of sentiment . b. The college students hoped to gain the knowledge about reproductive health and contraception control through various ways, such as special lectures, course education, networks, popular scientific literature. By the directive intervention, the proportion of students using safe contraceptive methods, selection and acquisition of contraceptive medicines and devices were obviously improved.Conclusion Contraceptive behavior in college students was casual, and there existed too much unregulated selection and acquisition of contraception. Insecure behavior occupied a certain proportion. Contraceptive services were limited, and the way to obtain the services was also single, which was seldom guided effectively. It is advised that we should bring the reproductive health education into routine education or courses in campus, according to actual requirements of college students. Due to the short-term intervention, the impact seemed to be effective.
