Objective: To explore the therapeutic efficacy and related issues of patellofemoral joint osteoarthritis with arthroscopic lateral retinacular release. Methods:Collected 32 cases of patients with OA who have received arthroscopic operation from December 2007 to December 2008,within these patients, there are 8 male and 24 female, aged from 46 to 82 years old, All patients were diagnosed clinically and by arthroscopy, consistent with Altman diagnostic criteria ;Patients at radiographic methods ,were treated with arthroscopic radiofrequency debridement and lateral retinacular release. Before and after surgery measured the patellar medial glide test, the patella the axial of angle and the Patient were assessed using the Kujala patellofemoral score. Post-operative follow-up.Results :Preoperative patella were fixed in 10 cases. The patellofemoral joint score was improved 53.27±7.42 preoperatively and 61.09±7.58 postoperatively,P<0.05, after surgery The patellar medial glide test was improved 0.89±0.05CM,P<0.05. The patellar medial glide test were less than 1/2 quadrant 12 cases. The patellofemoral joint score was improved 61.77±8.40 preoperatively and 79.69±10.47 postoperatively,P<0.001, The patellar medial glide test 0.42±0.15CM preoperatively and 1.03±0.06CM postoperatively,P<0.001. The patellar medial glide test were less than one quadrants 10 cases. The patellofemoral joint score was improved 60.83±3.54 preoperatively and 82.50±9.22 postoperatively,P<0.001, The patellar medial glide test 0.75±0.23CM preoperatively and 1.27±0.07CM postoperatively,P< 0.001. lteral patellofemoral angle(LPFa) changed from 8.50°±1.94°preoperatively and 13.59°±2.48°postoperatively. Congruence angle (Ca) changed from 18.51°±10.61°preoperatively and 13.3°±9.17°postoperatively. lteral shift (LS) changed from 4.29±2.36MM preoperatively and 1.75±1.56MM postoperatively. All of the three criteria were changed significantly, P<0.001.Conclusion: For Restricted the patella of inside lapse of activity to carry out joint debridement combined with lateral retinacular release Can be an effective restoration of the patella of inside lapse of activity and improve alignment. The patient would achieve better patellofemoral joint function.
