Part 1:The reference values of serum Adiponection and Resistin in Chinese women living in Changsha cityObjective:To check the concentration of serum Adiponectin and Resistin in Chinese women living in Changsha city. To explore the relationship among Adiponectin and Resistin with age, height, body weight, body mass index (BMI), menopause age and years since menopause (YSM) respectively. Establishing the reference value of serum Adiponectin and Resistin in Chinese women living in Changsha city. Methods:The serum Adiponectin and Resistin levels in 599 Chinese women living in changsha city (aged 20-81 years) were measured by an ELISA.Results:The geometric mean values (X±2SD) of the serum Adiponectin and Resistin in Chinese women living in Changsha city were 8.41±4.14μg/ml and 7.00±3.42ng/ml respectively. The reference value of serum Adiponect was 4.27-12.55μg/ml in Chinese women living in Changsha city, while serum Resistin was 3.58-10.42 ng/ml.The serum Adiponectin in women had positive correlation with age and YSM respectively, and negative correlation with BMI. The serum Adiponectin decreased gradually with the BMI increasing among the normal body weight, over body weight and obesity women. Correlation analysis demonstrated that Adiponcetin was correlated with age, and the best estimated curve was compound curve (R2=0.335). In this study, serum Resistin was correlated with age, body weight, BMI, menopause age and YSM respectively. Though the serum Resistin increased with the BMI increasing, there was still not significant difference among the normal body weight, over body weight and obesity women. Both of serum Adiponectin and Resistin levels in postmenopausal women were significantly higher than that in premenopausal women. The reference values of serum Adiponectin and Resistin in premenopausal were 1.26-9.14μg/ml and 1.42-9.82 ng/ml respectively, while both of them in postmenopausal women were 8.26-15.22μg/ml and 5.55-10.67 ng/ml respectively. Conclusions:These results provide reliable reference values for serum Adiponectin and Resistin levels in Chinese women living in Changsha city, as well as the reference values in premenpausal and postmenopausal women respectively. Part 2 The reference values of serum Adiponection and Resistin in Chinese men living in Changsha cityObjective:To check the concentration of serum Adiponectin and Resistin in Chinese men living in Changsha city and explore the relationship among Adiponectin and Resistin with age, height, and body weight, body mass index (BMI) respectively. To establish the reference value of serum Adiponectin and Resistin in Chinese men living in Changsha city. Methods:The serum Adiponectin and Resistin levels in 231 Chinese men(aged 20-80 years) living in Changsha city were measured by an ELISA.Results:The geometric mean values (X±2SD) of the serum Adiponectin and Resistin in Chinese men living in Changsha city were 13.31±3.23μg/ml,8.01±3.38ng/ml respectively. The reference values of serum Adiponectin was 10.09-16.53μg/ml in men, while serum Resistin was 4.63-11.39 ng/ml. The serum Adiponectin in men had positive correlation with age, and negative correlation with body weight and BMI. ANOVA shows that for the Adiponectin there was significant difference between obesity and normal body weight. Simple correlation analysis demonstrated that Resistin had positive correlation with age, body weight and BMI, and it increased with the BMI increasing. And ANOVA shows that for the Resistin There were significant difference for serum Resistin levels between obesity and normal body weight men. The serum Adiponectin had positive correlation with Resistin in men. Conclusions:These results provide reliable reference values for serum Adiponectin and Resistin levels in Chinese men living in Changsha city. Part 3The gender differences in Adiponectin and Resistin in Chinese adults living in Changsha cityObjective:To investigate the gender differences of Chinese adults living in Changsha city for serum Adiponectin and Resistin levels. Methods:Independent T test were carried out to check the serum Adiponectin and Resistin levels in men and women. Then we checked the best fitting-curve of Adiponectin or Resistin with BMI and age respectively in men and women. Results:The independent T test showed that there was significant difference for serum Adiponectin levels between men and women, and men had higher serum Adiponectin levels. The best fitting-curve of Adiponectin with age in men was line correlation, while that in women was compound correlation. After the age of 50 years old the serum Adiponectin levels increased significantly in women, therefore the difference between men and women decreased. The serum Adiponectin levels decreased following the increased BMI in men and women. And for the same BMI, the men's serum Adiponectin levels were higher than that of women. Simple correlation analysis demonstrated that serum Adiponectin in both of men and women were positive correlated with age, The serum Resistin levels in men were higher than that in women, and there were significant difference. As the estimated curve of serum Resistin with age in men and women, Resistin increased following the increased age, and serum Resistin levels in men was higher than that in women. Conclusions:Our results suggested that the differences of serum Adiponectin levels between women and men are mainly affected by the estrone. The differences of serum Resistin levels between women and men should be attributed to the difference of testosterone and fat distribution.
