Objective:To understand the incidence of smoking behavior of soldiers and distribution characteristics, to understand the tobacco-related knowledge, awareness and related attitudes of soldiers in Central South China, to study on the main factors of the smoking behavior of soldiers in order to provide the evidence of making tobacco control measures policy among soldiers.Methods:To select randomly sample of 1,000 soldiers as research in the field army in the South region. To understand the characteristics of the sample. To use adaptation, "Smoking Behavior Questionnaire", the T test, ANOVA, non-conditional logistic regression analysis to understand the smoking behavior of soldiers, the incidence of smoking cessation behavior and tobacco-related knowledge, attitudes related of smoking behavior and the surrounding conditions.Results:In the 1000 survey sample 982 valid questionnaires CPC were received, the effective response rate was 98.20%(982/1000).In the 982 samples, the rate of the soldiers tried smoking behavior was 62.0%(609/982), in which the occurrence of occasional smoking was 33.8%(332/982), daily smoking (for a week above) rate was 28.2% (277/982); tobacco dependence rate was 48.60%(296/609) in the 609 questionnaire responses of the soldiers.Level, work experience is the risk factors of the soldier trying smoking. The higher the level and the longer working life, the more easily the soldiers try to smoke. Smoking-related knowledge and attitude toward smoking were the protective factors of soldier trying smoking. The more smoking-related knowledge and the more oppose to smoking the less likely the soldiers try to smoke.Conclusion:The smoking rate was 62.0%, was higher than the average. The Soldiers'knowledge of smoking is generally low, only a small part of the soldiers on their own or others opposed to smoking. Level, the time of work, the knowledge about smoking, the attitude of smoking would affect the behavior of soldiers' trying smoking, it improves the physical and mental health of soldiers to strengthen the health education and promotion of tobacco control, strengthen soldiers of Social Psychology, emphasis on the mandatory effects of legislation to introduce the health hazards of smoking, awareness of tobacco's harm to society, strengthen supervision in public places and other measures to reduce soldiers to smoke rate.
